New Year’s Eve fell on a Saturday this year and Dallas Police were preparing for a substantial number of drunk drivers on the roads. Fortunately, this was not the case.
The Dallas Police have reported that over New Year’s weekend there were 31 arrests relating to drunk driving, which is three less than the previous year. Also, this year the police saw a rise in the number of people who were willing to participate in the breath tests.
The holiday weekend was also a no-refusal weekend, where police are able to obtain a warrant for a person’s blood sample if they refuse to voluntarily give one. Last year the police obtained 10 warrants for blood samples and this year only six warrants were requested.
